Mr Brende took on the office of chair of the board in spring 2006. He had experience from the nomination of the West Norwegian Fjords and Vega during his time as Minister of the Environment. ‘I would not have become involved in the ‘Wild Reindeer Hunting as World Heritage’ project if I did not believe that the project has the qualities required for inclusion on the World Heritage List. I believe that the expert statements we have received from international experts provide further confirmation of this.’
The board was formally told of Børge Brende’s resignation at a board meeting last week. ’The board regrets that Mr Brende is leaving, but it would like to wish him the best of luck in connection with the new and exciting challenges he will face in the World Economic Forum. Mr Brende has played a key role during an important period for the project,’ says deputy chair Per Dag Hole. He will act as chair until further notice. |
